2/12/2023 0 Comments Balu baluIn general, asymmetry is the norm, rather than an exception. The theme of my thesis had been to quantify the effect of the ion asymmetry on its transport. I used perturbation and asymptotic analysis methods to obtain approximate solutions to the differential equations governing ion transport. The goal was to develop theory that related (microscopic) ion transport to observable quantities such as current, or colloidal particle motion. My PhD research focused on mathematical modeling of ion transport dynamics in electrochemical and colloidal systems. I use a combination of analtical approximation methods as well as numerical and computational tools to model ion transport around a membrane.
